Approaching challenges from multiple perspectives, designing novel solutions that bridge traditional divides between technology, art, and social impact.
about me
Currently, I serve as the Director of Arts & Cultural Programming at Michigan Central, where I oversee programming for a 32-acre innovation campus in Detroit. My work includes developing our ArtxTech Residency Program and leading major events from conversation series to film festivals. I particularly enjoy directing our creative summer program, which engages over 1,000 youth in disciplines like drone technology and game design.
As a Professor of Practice at Arizona State University's Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center, I teach Worldbuilding and Visualizing Futures courses. Previously, I co-chaired ASU's Masters in Futures & Design program as a tenure-track faculty member, guiding students in developing innovative projects for public presentation.
In 2025, I was honored to be selected as a Lewis Latimer Fellow through the Edison Awards program, which recognizes exceptional visionary innovators. My fellowship focuses on training conversational robots to conduct ethical oral history interviews, exploring how communities can leverage AI technologies on their own terms.
I'm also co-founder of CRUX Cooperative, an organization dedicated to supporting artists creating immersive work. Under my leadership, CRUX grew to include 18 worker-owners, reached nearly 125,000 audience members, and generated $1.9 million in revenue within its first two years.
Previously, I served as Co-CEO of Fractured Atlas, the largest association of independent artists in the United States, where I oversaw $30-35 million annually while guiding our strategic direction. I'm particularly proud of founding the Artist Campaign School, which has trained over 70 artists to run for political office or lead political campaigns—creating pathways for creative voices in civic leadership.
With nearly two decades of experience spanning arts administration, cultural programming, and higher education, I thrive at the intersection of creativity, technology, and social change. My career has been dedicated to building innovative platforms that empower artists and communities while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in cultural spaces.
My teaching experience includes positions at NYU and Bennington College, and my career path has included roles at various organizations including Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Martha's Table, the National Center for Children and Families, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Children's Defense Fund, New Leaders, and AAUW. Early in my career, I gained valuable experience on Capitol Hill working with clients like Comcast, SiriusXM, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and the City of Philadelphia.
I hold a J.D. from Howard University School of Law and a degree in Political Science from Mount Holyoke College. When I'm not working, you'll find me hiking, biking, building (admittedly bad) furniture, or cheering on underdog basketball teams. I currently serve on the governing board of Black Innovation Alliance and have previously served on the boards of Main Street Phoenix Project and Black Girls Code.
